How much does SMC pay in 2026?

SMC rates vary by level and severity. SMC-K (loss of one foot, hand, or eye) pays an additional $139.87/month on top of regular compensation. SMC-L (loss of both feet or hands) pays $4,900.83/month. Higher levels pay more, with SMC-R.2 (most severe) paying $11,271.67/month. These are the 2026 rates for a veteran with no dependents, effective December 1, 2025.

Can I receive SMC and regular disability compensation?

Yes! SMC is paid in addition to your regular VA disability compensation. You receive your standard compensation based on your combined rating, plus the SMC amount for your qualifying conditions.
